Feds, province announce construction is underway on Fundy Trail Connector project

The provincial and federal governments announced Thursday construction is underway on the Fundy Trail Connector infrastructure project.

The provincial government is investing $15 million this fiscal year in the $45 million project, linking major tourism attractions through the Alma region including Hopewell Rocks, Cape Enrage, and Fundy National Park.

Clearing for the construction of a new road began earlier this year and grading is expected to start when the weather allows.

Upgrades to Little Salmon River Road, Creek Road, and Shepody Road are also part of the project.

The province says the first section of the project is on schedule to open in 2019.
