Fire causes extensive damage to Fredericton home
The cause of a fire that extensively damaged a mini-home in Fredericton is under investigation.
Platoon Captain Mike Mizner of the Fredericton Fire Department says they were called to McGee Street on the city's south side around 4:10 p.m. Friday.
"When we arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from all ends of the structure," Mizner told our newsroom on Saturday morning.
Mizner said a woman was home at the time, but she and her dog made it outside before firefighters arrived, and no one was hurt.
"The fire was contained to the rear of the structure in the attic area, with extensive smoke and heat damage throughout," he said.
Mizner said the fire was under control around 5 p.m. Friday, and crews remained on scene until around 6 p.m.
