Fire causes serious damage to Fredericton business
Fire has caused extensive damage to a manufacturing business on Fredericton's south side.
Crews from the Fredericton Fire Department, the Fredericton Police Force and Ambulance NB responded to Colonial Manufacturing on Whiting Road around 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Acting Platoon Captain Dwayne Killingbeck tells our newsroom the fire caused "serious damage" to part of the company's manufacturing and storage facility, but crews were able to save much of the building.
Killingbeck says no one was inside when the fire started and no one was hurt.
The fire was brought under control within 90 minutes, but crews remain on scene Saturday morning putting out hotspots.
Killingbeck says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Crews also responded to a home on Fleming Road on the city's south side around 7 p.m. Friday for an issue with smoke in a fireplace.
Killingbeck says the fire was quickly brought under control and there was no significant damage.
About an hour later, Killingbeck says firefighters were called to a shed fire on Debbie Lane in Richibucto Road.
No one was hurt in that fire and the cause is under investigation.
