Fire forces residents out of Fredericton apartment building
A handful of people have been displaced after a fire on the north side of the city Wednesday morning.
Fredericton fire crews were called to a structure fire on Barton Crescent just before 4:00.
Platoon Chief, Peter McMurtrie tells our newsroonm the call came in around 3:50 and when when firefighters arrived on scene at the 12-unit 3-storey apartment building, smoke could be seen at the rear of the building.
McMurtrie says some of the occupants were already exiting the building.
The Canadian Red Cross will be assisting about 4 residents who won't be able to get back into their apartment for e few days.
The fire was under control by 5:20am, but crews remained on scene.
No injuries were reported and firefighters were able to rescue a family cat.
