Fire forces tenants out of four-storey apartment building in Moncton

At least 26 tenants were forced from their apartments after a fire at a four-storey building in Moncton.

The Canadian Red Cross says the blaze was confined to one unit on the top floor Tuesday morning, but caused water damage to lower units.

Fifteen tenants made their own arrangements for temporary lodging, as it's expected to take a day or so to clean up water damage.

Disaster volunteers arranged emergency lodging, and food for 11 other tenants.

Some went to hotels in the area, while others were offered empty dorm rooms at the Université de Moncton, where several displaced tenants are students.
