Fire truck collides with mini-van on route to call

A Fredericton Fire Department truck had a run-in with a mini-van in the downtown last night.

Capt. Roger Carnahan tells our newsroom that crews were repsonding to a reported structure fire on the north side around 10pm when the collision happened at the intersection of Westmoreland and George Streets.

Caranahan says the van flipped and rolled down the street about 30 feet before coming to a stop.

The male driver was checked at the scene and sent to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

There was quite a bit of damage to the van, but minor damage to the fire truck.

No fire crew members were hurt.

The reported fire on Winter Street turned out to be a false alarm.
