Former federal NDP candidate in New Brunswick enters provincial party's leadership race

A former federal NDP candidate in New Brunswick is entering the provincial party's leadership race.

Jennifer McKenzie had a news conference scheduled for Wednesday morning in Fredericton to officially make the announcement but the St. Martin resident sent out a tweet last night confirming her intention to run.

McKenzie came in third when she ran for N-D-P in Fundy-Royal in the 2015 federal election and also made a failed bid as an N-D-P candidate in the Ontario election in 2014 when she was living in Ottawa.

The leadership race was called after former provincial N-D-P leader Dominic Cardy stepped down because of what he said was too much infighting _ he now works for the provincial Conservative party as a strategist.
