Fourth annual UNB Powwow to be held on Thursday

The fourth annual University of New Brunswick Powwow will be hosted by the Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre at the university's Fredericton campus on Thursday.

UNB says the annual powwow is a celebration of Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqey, and Passamaquoddy languages, teachings, traditions, ceremonies, worldviews, knowledge systems, and philosophies.

David Perley, the director of the Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre, says the theme this year is 'All My Relations: Unity in Diversity,' which aims to acknowledge the many unique, distinct, and vibrant cultures that make up the UNB community.

He says the powwow will celebrate all cultures and promote the principles of mutual respect, acceptance, understanding, and harmony.

The event runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Richard J. Currie Centre.
