Fredericton building could soon be home to marijuana production facility
An Ontario-based cannabis company has its sights set on Fredericton for a marijuana production facility.
Canopy Growth has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase a 40,000-square-foot industrial building at 40 Blizzard Street.
The company says in a news release that construction will begin in October to expand the building to a 100,000-square-foot facility, which should be ready for licensing and production by the end of the year.
Spokesperson Jordan Sinclair tells our newsroom that they should have a better idea in the coming weeks how many people will be employed there.
The company has also purchased Fredericton-based Spot Therapeutics, which has already applied for a license from Health Canada.
