The City of Fredericton says a Fredericton Transit bus driver has been suspended following an interaction with a passenger.

In a statement, the city says Fredericton Transit was recently made aware of an incident involving a passenger and one of its bus drivers on a bus in the city.

In a Facebook post, Becca Langille-Watkins says she and her son were the only passengers left on a bus stopped at rhe Corbett Centre when the driver approached her and said her "outfit made him uncomfortable, that it was inappropriate, and that from now on I need to wear a shawl when I come on the bus."

The City says the driver has been suspended and Fredericton Transit has apologized to the passenger.

The statement did not confirm the nature of the incident, but said there is no dress code on Fredericton Transit.
