Fredericton dentists offer free dental care to low-income residents

A Fredericton dental clinic is offering free dental work to low-income adults in the city.

York Dental Clinic on Bishop Drive is hosting its annual Smiles For Fredericton dental care event on Friday.

Organizers say those 18 years or older who do not have access to regular dental care or insurance coverage will have their choice of a filling, extraction or cleaning.

Cathy Devine, dental practice manager, tells our newsroom they saw about 100 patients last year, and expect to help the same number of people this year.

Devine says registration starts at 7:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, and the clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizers say about 10 dentists will be taking part this year, as well as several dental assistants and hygienists, and over 40 volunteers.
