Fredericton hosts 300 young curlers in provincial championship

About 300 young curlers will gather in Fredericton this weekend for the 2017 New Brunswick Little Rocks Championships.

It's the second year in a row the city has hosted the event, which takes place at the Capital Winter Club and Willie O'Ree Place.

Jaime Watson, co-ordinator of the program, said it's a great experience for curlers aged 12 and under.

"They will be playing on arena ice that is normally only available to elite curlers at the national and international levels," she said.

Provincial championships will be awarded in two divisions: age 12 and under, and age nine and under.

Play begins at 5 p.m. Friday, and the championships will be decided at 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
