Fredericton Red Wings name new head coach

The Fredericton Red Wings have their new head coach.

The Maritime Hockey League team, which just relocated from St. Stephen at the end of the 2018-19 season, announced on Friday that Brian Casey of Grand Falls, Newfoundland will be behind the bench.

Casey brings an extensive background to the company, including two years with the St. Jean Lynx of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, four seasons with the Acadia Axeman in the AUS, and ten seasons in professional hockey in Europe.

He's also been a part of two Spengler Cup Championships with Team Canada and won two National Titles for Slovakia and Denmark.

Casey has served as Head Coach of King's Edge Hill U18 Boys team for the past two seasons while teaching at the Private Preparatory School in Nova Scotia.

The team's owner, Global Center Ice, also announced that Casey will assume the role of Hockey Director.
