Fredericton's spring yard cleanup program begins next week
It's a sure sign that spring is finally here – Fredericton's annual spring yard cleanup program begins next week.
The two-week program allows residents to get rid of their garden and yard waste, as well as limbs and branches.
Items will be collected during the weeks of May 1 to 5 and May 15 to 19, and officials say pickup will occur on your regular garbage day, if it all possible.
Only garden and yard waste placed in compostable paper bags will be accepted as part of the program.
Limbs and branches must be separated from other garbage so they can be shredded, and all materials should be piled separately from regular garbage.
Officials say the program is not intended for pickup of major items such as furniture, stoves, refrigerators, bedsprings and mattresses, or residue from major tree removal or clearing operations.
Those items can be taken directly to the Fredericton Regional Landfill on Alison Boulevard, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
You can find more details about the program on the city's website.
