Fuel leak leads to evacuation of DECH emergency room
Fredericton fire crews were called to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday night after an ambulance started leaking fuel.
Platoon Captain Mike Mizner says the ambulance had been transporting a patient and was parked in the bay of the emergency room when the leak was noticed.
Mizner says a section of the ER had to be shut down and patients moved to another area of the hospital for a short time.
He says about 30 to 40 litres of gasoline spilled out of the vehicle, but crews were able to easily contain it.
Mizner says the report came in around 11:48 p.m. and they had it cleaned it up by shortly after 1 a.m.
