Gas leak forces some Fredericton residents out of homes

Up to 50 people had to evacuate their homes and offices after a natural gas leak on Fredericton's north side late Friday morning.

A pipeline on Hillcourt Drive was damaged during water and sewer construction work in the area and fire crews along with Enbridge Gas New Brunswick responded .

Fredericton Fire platoon Cpt. Larry Seymour tells The Daily Gleaner no one was at risk and no one was hurt.

Emergency crews remained on scene for about an hour.

The leak came just after a series of gas explosions north of Boston killed a teen and injured at least 10 people on Thursday.
