Government signs contract for innovative culvert assessments
An innovative Fredericton engineering company has signed a five-year contract with the New Brunswick government to assess 250 culverts at a maximum cost of $500,000 per year.
Inversa Systems has developed technology that can assess buried structures without digging them up for a visual inspection.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser says the use of this technology eliminates both the expense of digging up culverts and the inconvenience for motorists.
A pilot project with the department assessed 15 culverts before this new agreement was announced.
