Habitat for Humanity Fredericton hit by thieves — again

A Fredericton charity has been hit by thieves for the second time in just six weeks.

Habitat for Humanity Fredericton Area says several tools were taken from a locked utility trailer at its Clark Street build site on Tuesday night.

They say the vandals also tried to break into the home through the basement windows and back door, causing significant damage to the door.

"As a non-profit charitable organization whose sole purpose is to construct homes for low-income families, these acts against us are both expensive and disheartening," the organization said in a Facebook post.

Back on July 5, the charity discovered that two deck platforms built by volunteers for the house were stolen.

They were being stored outside the ReStore on St. Mary's Street until they could be moved to the build site.
