Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival begins Tuesday

Downtown Fredericton will be bustling over the next few days.

The 27th edition of the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival kicks off on Tuesday.

Organizers say more than 400 musicians are slated to perform during the six-day event.

They include Colin James, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Bruce Cockburn, Martha Wainwright, Sloan, Matt Andersen & Bonafide, The Revivalists, the Trey Anastasio Band, Steven Page, Matt Minglewood Band, Paper Lions, the Downtown Blues Band, and many others.

There will also be many free performances on six stages throughout the downtown.

Music and performance buskers — including the Fredericton Fire Spinners — will ignite Queen Street on Thursday evening, and for the first time, starting at noon on Friday and running until Sunday afternoon.

Harvest and NB Liquor have also teamed up to offer free shuttle bus service from Thursday to Saturday, with stops at most major hotels and some local businesses on both sides of the river.
