Heat Alert issued for New Brunswick communities

New Brunswick's Department of Health has issued a heat warning for a number of regions across the province today.

Health officials have posted a Level 1 Heat Alert for St. Stephen, Fredericton, Oromocto, along with Southern York, Sunbury and Queens Counties as the humidex value is expected to be close to 40 today.

Alerts are issued when the humidex is expected to be between 35 and 39.

Those conditions could pose a health risk to young children and older adults, the homeless and socially isolated people with chronic health conditions, and people using certain medications which could increase sensitivity to the heat.
