Heat wave continues in New Brunswick

Splashpads, pools and ice cream stands will be the popular spots again today as that feeling of summer continues around New Brunswick.

Summer is just a few weeks away, but some areas of the province saw their first heat alerts of the season yesterday, with temperatures climbing into the 30s, with humidex values into the mid-30s and higher.

Environment Canada has issued another special weather statement for today.

Temperatures are expected to reach the high 20's to near 31 degrees Celsius this afternoon with humidex values approaching low to mid 30's across much of the region.

As temperatures rise, there's concern about dry woods across the province and as a result the government has imposed a province-wide burn ban until further notice.

Conditions are expected to return to near normal this weekend.
