Hundreds still without power after late-week storm

Work continues to restore power following Thursday night's snow and wind event.

NB Power says there are about 300 customers off the grid in the southern and eastern parts of the province, as of noon Saturday.

That's down from about 20,000 customers at one point on Friday.

The utility's website says most people should have their power restored on Saturday afternoon.

NB Power said the high winds caused wires to slap and debris – including trees and branches – to make contact with the lines.

They're asking those without power to unplug items to reduce the cold load pickup, which is causing repeat outages.
