Icy roads close portion of TCH in New Brunswick

Black ice yesterday morning caused a string of accidents along the Trans-Canada between Woodstock and Oromocto and shut down a portion of the highway for several hours.

Police had to close  the road between Mazerolle Settlement and the Harvey exit after icy conditions made it difficult for drivers to keep their vehicle on the highway.

A car, a transport truck and a bus carrying a Sussex hockey team crashed into the ditch on the highway and the Mounties say it made for a very busy morning for emergency workers.

Fredericton Police Sgt. Shane Duffy tells the Daily Gleaner an Irving transport truck carrying propane was involved in one of the crashes, but luckily no one was hurt.

There were only minor injuries from the other reported accidents.
