Infrastructure investments announced for New Maryland, Oromocto First Nation
The federal and provincial governments have announced $1.1 million for infrastructure projects in New Maryland and the Oromocto First Nation.
The work in New Maryland consists of a water main and storm sewer extension on Daniel Drive, which includes upgrades to the existing storm sewer, road repaving, and new curbs and sidewalks.
The project in Oromocto First Nation involves the installation of solar thermal heating units on band-owned buildings to increase energy efficiency and reduce the community’s operating costs.
The announcement was made by Fredericton North MLA and Deputy Premier Stephen Horsman as well as Fredericton MP Matt DeCourcey, with Oromocto First Nation Chief Shelley Sabattis and New Maryland Mayor Judy Wilson-Shee also present.
