Locavore receives provincial funding to hire 10 full-time employees
A Fredericton-based food company is getting provincial funding to help hire new employees.
Opportunities NB will provide Locavore with $50,000 in payroll support to hire 10 new full-time workers.
Located on Hanwell Road, the company focuses on processing locally grown foods and selling their products to commercial markets.
They also provide co-packing services to small businesses in need of certified commercial kitchen space.
Founders Sean Dunbar and Jason LeJeune launched the company after Real Food Connections closed its doors in November
LeJeune said their mission is to develop viable long-term market opportunities for local food producers.
"We are committed to supporting local growers and consumers who are part of the buy-local food movement that is gaining momentum in the province," he said in a news release.
LeJeune is the co-owner of Isaac's Way Restaurant and the Abbey Café, while Dunbar is the owner of Picaroons Traditional Ales.
