Man charged following Richibucto bank robbery

RCMP say a 24-year-old Moncton man has been charged following a bank robbery in Richibucto.

Officers responded after report of a robbery at the Royal Bank of Canada on Main Street around 4 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a man entered the bank, demanded money, and fled the scene in a car with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A car with a matching description was spotted at a coffee shop in Bouctouche a short time later, and police arrested the man and a 26-year-old woman.

Jody Sanipass is charged with robbery and wearing a mask while committing an offence.

He's been remanded into custody until a court appearance next week, while the woman, also from Moncton, was released pending a court appearance in May.
