Man convicted of drug trafficking faces eight new charges

The RCMP say a 36-year-old Fredericton man convicted this week of drug trafficking is now facing eight additional charges.

Police say Jesse Michael Joe was convicted Tuesday of trafficking a schedule 1 substance and failing to comply with a probation order, and has been remanded until a sentencing hearing on October 20th.

New charges, laid August 14th and 21st, are trafficking fentanyl, two counts of trafficking oxycodone, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, obstruction of justice, and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The RCMP say he's due in court on October 2nd to answer to the new charges, which stem from an investigation into reports of drug trafficking and drug overdoses on the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation in April.
