Medical, recreational marijuana key economic opportunities: N.B. government

The New Brunswick government says it sees both medical and recreational marijuana as key opportunities to help grow the provincial economy.

With the federal government planning to legalize recreational marijuana, the province says an entirely new sector will become available to the economy.

Economic Development Minister Francine Landry says New Brunswick wants to partner with the private sector and the federal government in order to gain a strong foothold in a rapidly growing industry.

Landry says the move will create employment and help diversify the province's economy.
