Minto Foodland opens temporary location
Residents in the village of Minto have a grocery store in their community once again.
A temporary Foodland grocery store opened its doors at 110 Main Street on Thursday morning.
It's just up the street from the old location, which burned to the ground back in early June.
Franchise owner Richard Veenhuis says the store doesn't have everything that the old one did, but it has as large an offering as they have room for.
"We only have 2 checkouts and very limited parking," Veenhuis said in a Facebook post, "so be patient, have a chat and enjoy yourself."
Ever since the June 5 fire, residents have had to travel to Chipman or Fredericton to get their groceries.
Veenhuis said Sobeys, the parent company of Foodland, believes in the small village and is there for the long haul.
"We will be opening a new permanent location as soon as possible," he said.
