Miscou Island forest fire officially extinguished
A forest fire that forced the evacuation of about two dozen homes on Miscou Island over a week ago is now officially out.
The Department of Energy and Resource Development updated the fire's classification over the weekend.
The blaze, which started on July 29, burned an estimated 40 hectares on the northeastern New Brunswick island.
Residents were allowed to return home three days later once crews managed to contain the fire.
