Moncton native still in running to become Canada's next astronaut

A New Brunswick native is still in the running to become one of Canada's next astronauts.

The Canadian Space Agency revealed the names of the top 17 candidates on Monday, and Alex DeLorey was one of them.

The University of New Brunswick graduate hails from Moncton, but now works as a project manager in Milton, Ont.

The only other candidate from Atlantic Canada is Halifax-born Michael Jordan – a lead Department of National Defence test pilot who lives in Juniper, Fla.

DeLorey and Jordan were among more than 3,700 people to submit applications to the space agency last summer.

According to the CSA, the top two applicants will be announced this summer.
