More construction projects starting in Fredericton
A couple of construction projects get underway on Fredericton's north side on Monday.
Wallace Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Maple Street and Main Street for the next 12 weeks.
Sean Lee, the city's assistant director of engineering and operations, said in April that the project will be one of the largest of the construction season.
"We'll go in and replace the water, sanitary and storm sewer pipes that are underground," said Lee. "At the same time, we're going to put in new curbs, new sidewalk, and do a little bit of minor realignment work."
Philson Ltd. of Hanwell was awarded the tender for the nearly $1.2 million project.
Meanwhile, the Nashwaak Trail is also closed between Barker Street and Canada Street to accommodate sanitary sewer truck main removal work.
The closure is expected to last until June 30, and pedestrians will be detoured along Gibson and Canada streets.
