N.B. company fined for workplace accident

A New Brunswick company has been fined $65,000 dollars for a workplace accident that left a worker with crushing injuries.

AZZ Galvanizing of Saint John was operating in Acton, Ontario, when a steel truss fell off a forklift onto the worker on July 25th, 2016.

The company pleaded guilty in Burlington court and was also handed a 25-per-cent victim fine surcharge.

The judge said the operator should have been at the forklift while its load was raised and the load of steel trusses should have been secured.
