N.B. emergency measures organization advises of potential for rising water levels
The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization is advising New Brunswickers that water levels might increase in the coming weeks.
A news release from the organization says flooding may soon occur in areas where drainage systems are blocked by snow and ice as a rainfall event is in the forecast for early next week.
The organization advises people living or working in areas prone to flooding to take precautions, including moving belongings to higher ground, avoiding the banks of waterways, avoiding crossing ice with recreational vehicles, and reporting ice jams or issues related to rising water.
River watch officials will continue to monitor the situation closely, while the River Watch program is in effect to provide details on the status of rivers, the potential for ice jams, and other flood issues across the province.
