N.B. government applauds CPP changes

The New Brunswick government is marking what it says is an important milestone for the Canada Pension Plan.

Federal legislation to implement improvements to the plan was proclaimed into law yesterday.

The legislation flows from an agreement reached with the provinces last summer to increase the maximum CPP benefit by about 50 per cent in increments over seven years, starting in 2019.

New Brunswick Finance Minister Cathy Rogers says the changes will give future generations more secure and dignified retirement.
