N.B. opposition parties calling for families and children minister to step down
Opposition parties in New Brunswick are calling for the province's families and children minister to step down over a severe case of child neglect.
In 2016, sheriffs in Saint John discovered five children living in a home smeared with feces, with little food and serious tooth decay.
It later came to light that the province's Department of Social Development had been involved with the family since 2012, but the children weren't removed from the home until sheriffs reported the conditions.
Families and Children Minister Stephen Horsman has called for an internal review, saying he first became aware of the disturbing case when it was reported in the media.
