N.B. report released on supporting people with a disability
Government has released the last of a series of reports stemming from the New Brunswick Family Plan, this time focused on providing support for people with a disability.
Feedback was collected during a stakeholder meeting at the Family Plan summit in St. Stephen in March.
Haley Flaro, executive director of Ability NB, said New Brunswick has the second highest rate of disability in Canada at 16.4 per cent of its population.
The broad recommendations, released Wednesday, include removing barriers to living a healthy, engaged, and well-balanced life, removing significant barriers to finding and maintaining employment, and preparing for both successful transitions and improving access to employment or further education or training.
The New Brunswick Family Plan provides the government with a framework in seven priority areas.
