N.S. man dies after car plunges into water on Grand Manan Island

Police say a Nova Scotia man has died after his car plunged into the water on New Brunswick's Grand Manan Island.

New Brunswick RCMP say the crash was reported around 8:20 p.m. Thursday at the end of Shore Road.

Cpl. Jason Morrissey says it's believed the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to go off a sea wall and flip onto its roof into the water.

The driver, a 68-year-old man from Barrington Passage, was taken to Grand Manan Hospital, but died from his injuries.

Morrissey says alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
