NB Liquor stops taking event reservations at The Station
NB Liquor has stopped taking event reservations at The Station in Fredericton as the Crown corporation looks at how to best maximize use of the space.
Spokesperson Mark Barbour tells our newsroom that all but two events scheduled after Sept. 2017 have been cancelled.
Barbour says he cannot release any other details, including the number of events impacted, as public tenders may be required for their future plans.
Our newsroom learned earlier this month of at least one event that has been cancelled as a result.
Barbour says they're in the preliminary stages of the review, but wouldn't say what prompted them to look at the facility's usage in the first place.
It's also unclear when any potential tendering process may be completed.
NB Liquor announced plans to refurbish the York Street train station into a retail liquor outlet back in 2009.
In a Sept. 2009 news release, the province said NB Liquor will lease the refurbished CP Railway station and new attached structure for 20 years.
