NB Nurses union seek changes to Occupational Health and Safety Act

The New Brunswick Nurses Union is calling on the provincial government to make hospitals safer for front line medical professionals.

Union officials are asking government change the Occupational Health and Safety Act to clearly define violence to cover all sources of workplace related violence.

There were 4,000 reported cases of workplace violence against nurses between 2008 and 2013.

That includes everything from being punched to being bitten by patients.

Minister Donald Arseneault says some work has been done on the file.
