NB Power releases third-quarter results
NB Power says it's pleased to see positive earnings for the third quarter of the 2016-17 fiscal year.
The utility finished the quarter with year-to-date earnings of $44 million – an increase of $39 million over the same period last year.
Officials say revenue from electricity sales within the province were up, while expenses linked to electricity operations were down due to a drop in fuel purchases and lower purchased power costs.
But Chief Financial Officer Darren Murphy says they're mindful of challenges that will result from costs associated with January's ice storm, which broke about 600 poles.
The utility says it's still calculating the storm-related costs.
