NBCC OASIS program finalist at Startup Canada Awards
New Brunswick Community College says it's honoured that one of its programs was a finalist at the regional Startup Canada Awards.
The OASIS program was a regional finalist for the Entrepreneur Support Award at last week's awards ceremony in Fredericton.
In the end, it was the Nova Scotia-based Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre that walked away with the award.
But Clarissa Harris-LeBreton, entrepreneurship coordinator at NBCC, says it was an honour to be recognized in the same category as such an outstanding organization.
The OASIS program started in 2014 and connects small business owners with mentors who can help them address their specific needs or challenges.
It also runs networking and business development events throughout the province.
OASIS first launched in Miramichi and was later expanded to Moncton and Saint John; it will begin in Fredericton this fall.
More than 40 entrepreneurs have been supported through the program since its launch.
