New UNB women's hockey coach to speak at UNB Associated Alumnae's AGM Wednesday

The new women's hockey coach at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) will speak at the Annual General Meeting of the UNB Associated Alumnae on Wednesday.

A news release from the UNB Associated Alumnae says Sarah Hilworth was hired to build a hockey team virtually from scratch last June.

Norah Mallory, the UNB Alumnae President, says there has been a lot of interest in the new team and that they have received a number of requests to have Hilworth speak.

UNB restarted the women's hockey program as a result of a resolution between the university and the Human Rights Commission after it had been cancelled in 2008.

The news release says attendees will hear more about the process of building a women's team, how it's working, and the unique challenges associated with recruiting talented women hockey players and building a team.

The event will take place at the Alumni Memorial Building on the Fredericton UNB campus at 6 p.m.
