No charges after man parachutes from N.B. bridge

Police say no charges are pending after a man parachuted from a Fredericton-area bridge over the weekend.

RCMP Const. Warren Vogan said officers were called to the Burton Bridge around 5:48 p.m. Sunday after a passerby saw a man walking along the structure of the bridge.

While officers were responding to the call, Vogan said the man jumped off the bridge – with a parachute – and landed on the ice of the Saint John River below.

He said officers intercepted the man after his jump, but have decided not to charge him.

Although on one was hurt in the incident, Vogan said it could have ended a lot differently.
