Northern New Brunswick man receives hefty fine after allegedly punching teenager
A northern New Brunswick man now living in Alberta has received a hefty fine this week in Campbellton court after punching a teenager last month.
27-year-old Real Bernard, formerly of Balmoral was charged with assault causing bodily harm after punching a 17-year-old boy once in the face, knocking him out.
His lawyer said his client lashed out because the victim was speaking ill of his mother.
Bernard sent a text mesage to the teen, a few days after the incident, apologizing and wishing him well.
Bernard was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, $750 for medical expenses and lost wages, and have no contact with the teen.
