Opportunities NB projects hundreds of new jobs with legalized marijuana

The New Brunswick government is predicting the legalized marijuana industry could help add a lot of jobs in the province.

Opportunities NB projects 200 new full-time jobs will be created in the cannabis sector this year with the potential for a total of 600 jobs.

It says the province has been working to position New Brunswick as a leader in the new sector ever since the federal government announced plans to legalize recreational pot -- and CEO Stephen Lund sees many opportunities for growth in "hemp," greenhouse technologies and uses for veterinarians.

Opportunities NB says that by 2022, there could up to three-thousand cannabis-related jobs in the province.
