Oromocto High among three schools to receive upgrade investment

Government has detailed upgrades totaling over $52 million for three schools in the province.

The investment at Oromocto High School is an estimated $27 million, with the goal of extending the use of the 53-year-old building by another 30 years.

Design work is scheduled for the spring, with a target of September 2023 for completion.

In Saint John, $21.6 million was announced for Saint John High School, which was built in 1932, which includes asbestos removal from some areas of the building.

The province says building assessments last year showed that mid-life upgrades were feasible for both schools.

Finally, Harrison Trimble High School in Moncton will receive another $3.45 million to continue upgrades that began in 2015.

The 2018-19 capital budget in New Brunswick includes investments of $105.8 million in schools.
