Parlee Beach water problems may impact tourism

We're still three months away from tourism season, but water problems at Parlee Beach may already be keeping people away.

Opposition leader Blaine Higgs said Friday that bookings are down from some Shediac-area businesses.

The Gallant government is promising that concerns about water quality at Parlee and recordskeeping at the beach last summer will be addressed.

Higgs said the province needs to get serious about finding the source of the problem, and communicating the solutions before the end of next summer.

Health Minister Victor Boudreau has recused himself from all government matters relating to Parlee Beach after the Conflict of Interest Commissioner warned of a potential conflict.

Boudreau is a partner in a proposed RV campground near the beach.
