Province announces ten new family doctors for Fredericton

The province has announced ten new family doctors will work in Fredericton over the next two years.

Deputy Premier Stephen Horsman says the new doctors will provide residents with better access to primary care, which will also lead to a reduction in  the number of people on the Patient Connect NB waiting list.

The doctors will be added under the Family Medicine New Brunswick model, a program intended to provide patients with enhanced access to family doctors.

Government says five of the doctors will start this fall, while the other five will begin in the fall of 2019.

All of the doctors will be graduates of the Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick residency program.
