Province invests in colon cancer screening expansion
The New Brunswick government is looking to expand screening for colon cancer across the province with a $1 million investment.
Colon cancer is the third-most commonly diagnosed cancer in New Brunswick, and the second-most common cause of all cancer deaths.
The New Brunswick Colon Cancer Screening Program began in November 2014 in Saint John, St. Stephen, and Sussex.
It expanded to Edmundston and Campbellton in September 2015, to Moncton in the fall of 2016, and is now being expanded to Fredericton, Bathurst, and Miramichi.
Government says the program is expected to be implemented provincewide by 2019.
